Rumer Willis

Daughter to one of Hollywood’s greatest, albeit former, power couples, Bruce Willis and Demi Moore, American actress Rumer Willis has begun making a name for herself outside the shadow of her parents’ blockbuster careers.

Rumer Glenn Willis was born August 16, 1988 in Paducah, Kentucky. The family was in Kentucky during her birth, because her father was on location for the film In Country. Her mother, bringing the entertainment business into the family from the onset, hired a cameraman to film the birth of her daughter. Willis’ siblings include Scout La Rue Willis and Tallulah Belle Willis. With her mother’s remarriage, Willis is also now Ashton Kutcher’s step-daughter.

On the education front, Willis attended Interlochen Arts Academy in 2002 followed by Wildwood Secondary School in 2004. She then moved on to University of Southern California, but quickly decided her emerging acting and singing career was where her interests lay.

Willis made her onscreen debut in her mother’s 1995 drama/comedy Now and Then. The powerhouse cast included Rosie ODonnell, Melanie Griffith, Rita Wilson, Gaby Hoffmann, Thora Birch, Christina Ricci, Ashleigh Aston Moore, Lolita Davidovich, Janeane Garofalo, Hank Azaria, and Bonnie Hunt.

In the following year, she appeared on her mother’s set again for the film adaptation of the Carl Hiaasen novel Striptease. Despite a supporting cast of Burt Reynolds, Ving Rhames, and Armand Assante, the film was a box office and critical bomb.

By 2000, Willis made it over to her father’s set for the hit comedy The Whole Nine Yards, which featured Matthew Perry, Rosanna Arquette, Michael Clarke Duncan, Natasha Henstridge, Amanda Peet, and Kevin Pollak.

It would prove a long stretch, however, before her next film appearance. It wasn’t until 2005 when she appeared opposite her father once again for his thriller Hostage. This film also displayed the acting prowess of Ben Foster, Jimmy Bennett, and Michelle Horn.

It was not until recently, though, that Willis’ acting career took off independent of her parents. She is currently in post-production for the film From Within, which is set to star Elizabeth Rice, Adam Goldberg, Thomas Dekker, Kelly Blatz, Laura Allen, and many others.

She is also in post-production for I Know What Boys Like, a comedy with costars Katharine McPhee, Emma Stone, Anna Faris, Beverly D Angelo, and Colin Hanks.

Both films are due for a 2008 release.

In her personal life, Willis has increased her star potential by her A-list pack of friends, which includes Dakota Johnson (daughter of Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith), Riley Keough (granddaughter of Elvis Presley), Antonella Barba, Hayden Panettiere, Lindsay Lohan, and others.
